Music Therapy Research

A research study at the Anglia Ruskin University looked into the effectiveness of music therapy for children with behavioural disorders. Video recordings of 250 therapy sessions were coded into 5-second time slots. Impexus developed a Microsoft Excel based system for data entry and detailed data analysis, including the identification of complex behaviour patterns over any specified duration.

Mobile Testing

A mobile phone testing company conducts field test in various European locations. A large proportion of engineer time used to be spent in communicating results and manually producing printed reports and spreadsheets, including a daily status update for each live project. An Access database system developed by Impexus now enables engineers’ test results to be logged in the field into customised Excel sheets. All report generation is now centralised and fully automated.

Sales Administration

A music publisher needed a stock control and sales system to replace their outdated manual processes. Impexus developed a modular database application to process sales, raise invoices and monitor stock levels.

Psychology Research

An independent research project carried out a large number of lengthy telephone interviews, each comprising over 1000 questions. Results were recorded on printed and bound questionnaires of 120 pages. Impexus designed an Access database working in conjunction with the SPSS statistical package to record and analyse results.

For a follow-up study using the same model, Impexus proposed that the interview results be recorded electronically, eliminating the cost and bulk of printed questionnaires. We developed an electronic version of the questionnaire which routed the interviewer according to answers given. The application included an instant help system and an interviewer notes facility for feeding back comments.
